Rewrite Lab

Student-gesturing-500px-L.jpg

Writing is rewriting, and this is the place to do it - right up to a table read of your finished script by local actors!

Instructor Katie Gruel has written for Perception (TNT), Dominion (SyFy) and most recently Shades of Blue (NBC).

The Rewrite Lab is an 8 week class designed for students who want to re-break or re-write an existing project entirely.

Whether you’re writing TV drama or comedy, a spec or a pilot, Script Anatomy’s tools can help you rebuild and finesse your script.

The first 5 weeks will be guided classes in which the instructor and your peers will help you work the tools and give you honest notes on your material. The last 3 weeks will be table reads with actors in which your work will come to life - an exciting and invaluable experience for any writer.

Classes cover:

Concept / Structure & Re-breaking / Character Flaw & Active Goal

Relationship Dynamics & Progression / Arcs / Sequence Building

Scene Work / Dialogue Techniques / Scene Transitions

Act Breaks / Theme / Polish

Required: Televisionary or equivalent experience.

Instructor: Katie Gruel

“I trust Script Anatomy’s tools implicitly because I developed my first spec outline in Televisionary. That spec led me to the Finals of every 2014 Television Fellowship Program. If you have the drive and passion, Script Anatomy will give you the weapons to succeed." — Charmaine DeGraté, writer on CW’s The 100, Warner Bros Television Workshop Fellow
