Before writing for Silicon Valley (HBO) Megan Pleticha was selling her underwear on Craigslist.

It’s not how it sounds. She was living in New York at the time, and working as a sex journalist for Nerve.com, the New Yorker of online sex magazines. While there, she was a terrible waitress and eventually got a job in health insurance customer service, which was terrible in new, exciting ways.

She grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area before attending UCLA, where she wrote sketch comedy and directed a production of The Taming of the Shrew. After her stint in New York, she returned to California, to write comedy in LA – her father was relieved she had decided to pursue a practical career.

Once in LA, she worked her way through assistant jobs at Fremantle Media, BAFTA LA, and Mandy.com, after which she ultimately landed a Writers Assistant job on Married (FX) and then joined Silicon Valley (HBO) as the Writers Assistant and Script Coordinator. After writing a freelance script in Season 4 (“Team Building Exercise”), she was a Staff Writer for Season 5.

Meghan’s journalism has appeared in Nerve.com and The Daily Beast. Her last name is pronounced with a hard “ch,” like “cholera” or “Duchovny.”

She is repped by 3 Arts and you can follow her at @MeghanPleticha.
