TELEVISIONARY

Televisionary is the foundation of the Script Anatomy Curriculum.

An intensive 5 week course that is perfect for both new and working screenwriters who want to elevate their scripts by applying Script Anatomy’s unique tools.

*Whatever your level this course will help you advance.*

Writers may focus on a TV spec script or an original TV pilot. Your instructor will guide you through the Script Anatomy tools, a tried and tested process of crafting your script from concept to outline. You will get weekly lectures that correspond to the tools, and assignments where you will apply them to your own work. And each week, you will receive peer feedback and instructor critique, providing you with an honest evaluation of your material in a dynamic and supportive environment.

TV SPEC & PILOT DRAFT INTENSIVE

A logical next step after Televisionary, the TV Spec and Pilot Draft Intensive is a structured 3 session class designed for screenwriters who have a completed outline and are ready to write their draft.

Perhaps you have a draft that needs to be rewritten? Or you just want deadlines and feedback as you head into draft? This course will help you get that unfinished project written and polished while reviewing core structure and other key elements.

It begins with a pre-class prep week in which writers hand in their outline and read a comedy or drama script chosen by the screenwriting instructor. In Week One writers receive notes on their outlines from their peers and the instructor. In Weeks Two and Three, they receive notes on the first and second halves of their scripts.

This is not a rewrite class, though there will be revising and retooling of story and key elements.

TV COMEDY PILOT LAB

This 6-week intensive class is run like a professional writers room, and requires 2 weeks prep before class begins.

Using Script Anatomy tools, you will develop, outline and write your TV comedy pilot script at a pace expected in the TV industry.

All class members are required to devote time to homework, writing and reading other classmates’ work to provide feedback. They are expected to actively participate in the development and story breaking process each week. In a professional writers room, you must participate if you want to keep your job! Working this muscle will benefit you. 

Our Pilot Labs also include writing and business-related lectures. As our alumni attest, this unique curriculum provides invaluable preparation for your first job writing for TV.

2 week prep + 6 weeks / 8 writers max

Required: Televisionary or equivalent experience.

TV DRAMA PILOT LAB

This 6-week intensive class is run like a professional writers room, and requires 2 weeks prep before class begins.

Using Script Anatomy tools, you will develop, outline and write your TV drama pilot script at a pace expected in the TV industry.

All class members are required to devote time to homework, writing and reading other classmates work to provide feedback. They are expected to actively participate in the development and story breaking process each week. In a professional writers room, you must participate if you want to keep your job! Working this muscle will benefit you. 

Our Pilot Labs also include writing and business-related lectures. As our alumni attest, this unique curriculum provides invaluable preparation for your first job writing for TV. 

2 week prep + 6 weeks / 8 writers max

TV SPEC LAB

This 4-week intensive class is run like a professional writers room, and requires 2 weeks prep before class begins.

Our TV Spec Lab is where writers finesse their specs for submission to the TV Writing Fellowship Programs.

Every writer is expected to actively participate: read materials, pitch ideas, give notes, and work together to help your fellow screenwriters. In a professional writers room, you must participate if you want to keep your job! Working this muscle will benefit you.

Using Script Anatomy’s tools, you will work at a pace expected in the TV industry. It will require devoting time outside class to writing, homework and, at certain points, reading other classmates’ material to give feedback.

As our alumni attest, this unique curriculum provides invaluable preparation for your first job writing for TV.

We strongly recommend you register at least two weeks early to ensure completing your prep work on time.

2 weeks prep + 4 weeks / 8 writers max

ART OF THE PITCH

So you've finessed your script. Now what?

This 4 session intensive class will give you the tools, insight and hands-on experience to successfully pitch a TV show to a producer or studio executive. It’s also a great way to develop your project.

Instructor Kevin Townsley has set up shows at SyFy, Crackle, Pivot, Sony, CBS Studios, Warner Brothers, FOX 21 and Fremantle. He has worked with Silver Pictures (Joel Silver), Divide Pictures (Milo Ventimiglia), That's Wonderful Productions (Jim Parson) and Wonderland Sound and Vision (McG). 

He devised this fast-paced crash course to pull back the curtain on a process that is usually experienced only by high level screenwriters and executives. 

You will learn all the rudiments of pitching, and watch Kevin pitch a project he is going out with this season. Then you will have the invaluable experience of pitching your own TV show to the class and receiving feedback.

  • How to hook and engage your audience from the get-go

  • What to expect “in the room”

  • Reverse engineering your idea into a written and verbal pitch

  • Tricks for memorizing

REWRITE LAB

Writing is rewriting, and this is the place to do it - right up to a table read of your finished TV show script by local actors!

The Rewrite Lab is an 8 week class designed for students who want to re-break or re-write an existing project entirely. 

Whether you’re writing TV drama or comedy, a spec script or a TV pilot, Script Anatomy’s tools can help you rebuild and finesse your script. 

The first 5 weeks will be guided classes in which the screenwriting instructor and your peers will help you work the tools and give you honest notes on your material. The last 3 weeks will be table reads with actors in which your work will come to life - an exciting and invaluable experience for any screenwriter.
